Avoiding climate disaster: how big should the cuts be?
a telephone conference presentation with Philip Sutton

Philip Sutton, convenor of the Greenleap Strategic Institute, says
that greenhouse science is showing that we are headed for the worst
global disaster in human history. We still have a very small window
of opportunity in the next few years to prevent the worst impacts.
But to do that we need to choose realistic targets for greenhouse gas
reduction that will actually solve the problem. Philip Sutton will
argue that the only practical course of action is to cut emissions to
zero and to also take CO2 out of the air - because there is already
too much CO2 in the air. He will also argue that the bulk of the
physical changes need to be accomplished in the next decade. Change
of this magnitude, in such a short time, is unprecedented and he
believes it will only be accomplished if nations formally declare a
state of sustainability emergency. For Philip's bio, see:

Cost: All you need is to buy an internationall calling card from any
newsagency or get a cheap long distance calling account through a
website like www.gotalk.com. With the right phonecard, the 90 minute
session should only cost you about 4 dollars.

Bookings: Send an email to rainforestinfo at ozemail.com.au to let us
know you'd like to participate and we'll send you the telephone
number and pin as well as the powerpoint presentation that Philip
Sutton will speak to.
