Dear Elected Representative,

Recently, I became very alarmed when I learned about "Operation Talisman Sabre 2007".

Such military operations "Games" are not welcomed by my family and I.

We hope that you will stand with my family and I and represent how we feel about this matter. We are totally and completely opposed to Operation Talisman. We are totally and completely opposed to the grand scale foolishness and the waste of our precious resources. 

These miliary exercises are being conducted by dangerous and pathetic "big boys" who are playing with incredibly deadly toys.

It is time that our elected representatives stood firm for their people and gave these big "children" who would choose to wantonly destroy a strong and firm ENOUGH IS ENOUGH..!

It is time to close the door on this type of insanity.

This destruction will NOT occur in My Name.

Hello everyone

I do not know how funds gathered by "peaceconvergence.org" will be spent as i am not on their fundraising committee and i have not/cannot attended any of their meetings. I am halfway between Rockhampton and Brisbane, Qld,  (approximately 5 hours drive north to Yepoon) and have offered "peaceconvergence.org" and, further, openly invite members of any other group to the use of the very undeveloped land where i live for the purposes of rest stops and for camping on route to the "games" site. I have joined "peaceconvergence.org's" mail list to be kept up to date with what is going on down south.

However, these war games are in MY backyard :-(

Dear Friends

The Peace Convergence is soon and we are still in urgent need of funds to assist in the various campaign costs such as venue hire, material production, promotional costs, transport etc.  All involvement in organising the Peace Convergence is voluntary and as we are not eligible for government grants(!) we are relying on those who feel strongly that this is an important event to support it.

As you know, this June will see Australia host the largest military exercises we've ever had in our peacetime history 
Talisman Sabre 2007. 

 We are reminded of the horrors of war as we reflect on the fourth anniversary of the Iraq invasion which has turned into a daily nightmare of bloodshed and sectarian violence. 

We cannot continue to ignore the daily mayhem our government has helped make in Iraq nor our inadvertent complicity in making that land a toxic and cancerous wasteland. 

Howard's determination to turn one of Australia's most pristine and biodiverse environments 
- Shoalwater Bay near Rockhampton - into a US military training ground and testing site for their latest weaponry must be stopped. 

Away from the media and with no Environmental Impact Study needed before or after the war games, l4,000 US troops along with over 12,000 Australian personnel will work together in the name of "improving interoperability" to hammer the living daylights out of our coastline.

In the Northern Territory, US Abrams tanks and B52 and Stealth bombers will drop thousands of tonnes of live bombs on the fragile landscape against the wishes of the traditional owners. 

We refuse to turn a blind eye to what is being done on our own native soil, all in the name of refining the so-called War on Terror.

You can lend your support by coming to Shoalwater Bay in June 18-24 and concert in Brisbane on 16 June, joining a local peace group who are working on raising awareness about the war games and/or making a donation to the Peace Convergence.
