The latest Garnaut report summary

The Garnaut Climate Change Review is  an independent study by Professor
Ross Garnaut, commissioned by Australia's State and Territory  Governments
on 30 April 2007. The Review will examine the impacts of climate  change on
the Australian economy, and recommend medium to long-term policies and
policy frameworks to improve the prospects for sustainable prosperity. The
Review's final report is due on 30 September 2008, with a draft by 30 June
2008.

Professor Ross Garnaut's interim  report on Australia's response to climate
change, released today, recognises that it is in our national interest to
act  early and decisively on climate change and to show international
leadership by  encouraging other countries to do the same. The report says
the Federal  Government  "must be ready to go beyond" its emission
reduction target of 60 per  cent by 2050 as part of a global agreement.

The following should be of interest (below) - a bit bleak - but I am afraid
realistic. This comes from a climate/energy discussion group
(international) that I am part of..
